Auditions: The Hotel Hibiscus

Audition Information

The Hotel Hibiscus
By Robert Cockburn

Directed by Greg Friend

Season: October 19 – 27 at the Zenith Theatre, Chatswood

SYNOPSIS

A brutal new political thriller set not far from the Australian shoreline…and its politicians. Hibiscus Island, PNG, on the eve of a ceasefire in a bloody internal war. There is much work to be done and no more room in the morgue. Australian diplomat Baulkham must clean up the mess, cover his tracks and get off the island before the last plane leaves.

Inspired by his experience covering the war in Bougainville for The Times and BBC, Robert Cockburn’s play, first workshopped at NIDA, has been crafted into an extraordinary fictional tale…just a stone’s throw away from reality.

AVENGERS CASTING DIRECTOR COMING TO SCREENWISE

DIRECT FROM L.A.

A ONE DAY MASTER INTENSIVE

With

L.A. CASTING DIRECTOR

TAMARA HUNTER

Tamara Hunter is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television, and a member of the Casting Society of America. She started in casting with a great internship with Mali Finn (Titanic, The Matrix) and continued with the incredible Randi Hiller (Thor, Pride & Glory) and the inspiring Sarah Finn. She currently works with Sarah at Sarah Finn Company in Los Angeles.

Some of her notable projects include Iron Man, Captain America, and Tron. Most recent projects include The Avengers, Oliver Stone’s upcoming film, Savages, and Martin McDonagh’s much anticipated film, Seven Psychopaths.

In addition to film work, Tamara also works with Over the Moon Productions, bringing first class musical theatre, such as sold-out productions of Rent and Spring Awakening to Los Angeles and New York.

Tamara is thrilled to be heading to Sydney to meet and work with some of Australia’s top up and coming talent.

NOT TO BE MISSED!

WORK INTIMATELY WITH ONE OF LA’S TOP CASTING DIRECTOR

Unlike any other American Casting Workshop held in Australia where actors are given a Q & A then a quick audition with a feedback score card, this master intensive will offer the applicants a rare insight into the L.A. Casting process. This is Tamara’s first trip to Australia and she is extremely excited about working with Australian actors and hopefully discovering new talent.
In this workshop, Tamara will cast each actor in a two hander scene of her choice, from their headshot and/or showreel.
The actors will prepare their scene before the workshop commences. Tamara will then focus on each actor individually, constructively critiquing and directing their performance.
She will also view and advise on the actor’s promotional resources such as their showreels and headshots.

AUDITION!!! – FEMALE PRINCIPAL ROLE AVAILABLE

AUDITION NOTICE. FABULOUS PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY FOR STRONG FEMALE
ACTOR/SINGER!!!

The next Stage Artz Charity Musical, The Emperor’s New Clothes, has started
rehearsals. the cast is very impressive and the show is off to an incredible
start!!

Unfortunately, one principal cast member has been called away on a business
trip and is unable to continue with the show. We are looking for a female
actor to take on the role of Mama – the role calls for a strong singer with
great comic timing – someone who is able to look 40-ish. (Although the
principal roles are all played by adults, there are children in the
ensemble. so the performer needs to feel comfortable working with kids.)

Rehearsals are Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons (plus a few Saturday
afternoons). Nine performances at Glen Street Theatre – 28th Sept to 6th
Oct.

Stage Artz Charity Musicals have now raised over $93,000.00 for The
Children’s Hospital at Westmead. 2012 is a big year for us, as we are
hoping this year’s production will take our donation total to over
$100,000.00.

This is a great opportunity for someone to play a fantastic role in an
Australian Premiere production .. and to help out the kids at Westmead
Hospital.

Please contact sam asap if you are interested in
auditioning.
