StoryLines – a must see! Free double passes to this Thurs Gala!

A reminder not miss this brilliant – and very important – festival which features three terrific Australian plays by Justin Fleming.

It’s an extraordinary event with much to offer on themes of African refugee, Indigenous Australian, Muslim, Asian and general multicultural Australia… and where all our stories meet!

The plays feature a terrific cast (including some up-and-coming NIDA-trained pros and a few ‘names’ from stage and screen – plus some moving performances from the African actors) who are acting their socks off too!

A must-see… AND WE HAVE FREE TICKETS FOR THIS THURS GALA – see below!

After an introductory run at NIDA last week, it settles in the Bondi Pavilion this week with opening night for Coup d’Etat on Wednesday 8 August… and the two one-act plays after that.

AND special fundraisers too:

  • Thurs 9 August for KBH Corporation (Kinchella Boys Home – “The Stolen Generation”) in the presence of NSW Governor Marie Bashir – featuring Aboriginal music and dance and a performance of “Junction”; and
  • Thurs 16 August for SSEG (South Sudan Educates Girls) – featuring African music and dance as well as performance of “A Land Beyond the River”;

And remember throughout the month the art exhibition (featuring Indigenous art and photography as well as work by Villawood detainees) continues in the Bondi Pav foyer.

AVENGERS CASTING DIRECTOR COMING TO SCREENWISE

DIRECT FROM L.A.

A ONE DAY MASTER INTENSIVE

With

L.A. CASTING DIRECTOR

TAMARA HUNTER

Tamara Hunter is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television, and a member of the Casting Society of America. She started in casting with a great internship with Mali Finn (Titanic, The Matrix) and continued with the incredible Randi Hiller (Thor, Pride & Glory) and the inspiring Sarah Finn. She currently works with Sarah at Sarah Finn Company in Los Angeles.

Some of her notable projects include Iron Man, Captain America, and Tron. Most recent projects include The Avengers, Oliver Stone’s upcoming film, Savages, and Martin McDonagh’s much anticipated film, Seven Psychopaths.

In addition to film work, Tamara also works with Over the Moon Productions, bringing first class musical theatre, such as sold-out productions of Rent and Spring Awakening to Los Angeles and New York.

Tamara is thrilled to be heading to Sydney to meet and work with some of Australia’s top up and coming talent.

NOT TO BE MISSED!

WORK INTIMATELY WITH ONE OF LA’S TOP CASTING DIRECTOR

Unlike any other American Casting Workshop held in Australia where actors are given a Q & A then a quick audition with a feedback score card, this master intensive will offer the applicants a rare insight into the L.A. Casting process. This is Tamara’s first trip to Australia and she is extremely excited about working with Australian actors and hopefully discovering new talent.
In this workshop, Tamara will cast each actor in a two hander scene of her choice, from their headshot and/or showreel.
The actors will prepare their scene before the workshop commences. Tamara will then focus on each actor individually, constructively critiquing and directing their performance.
She will also view and advise on the actor’s promotional resources such as their showreels and headshots.

ATTN: THEATRE COMPANIES – READ THIS!

Theatre Junkies would like to help build up the ‘community’ of community theatre groups. As far as we can tell, theatre junkies is the only community theatre information service that is free to use, free to access, not affiliated with any specific theatre group or commercial organisation, and can be accessed through a website that does not require users to have an account (such as Facebook). Like you, the people behind Theatre Junkies do it purely for the love of the theatre.

If you would like to support Theatre Junkies in our mission to help build the greater community theatre community, we have two offers to make to all non-profit theatre groups.

1. Reciprocal Advertising. There are two forms of reciprocal advertising that you can take advantage of: A) Place a graphic or text ad on the front page of your company website that tells the world that you advertise auditions and show details with Theatre Junkies, and we will create a searchable category under the name of your theatre company, making it easier for theatre fans to find your notices. B) Place an add for Theatre Junkies in your program, and Theatre Junkies will host a banner ad for that production on a dedicated ‘upcoming productions’ page, giving it additional exposure to Theatre Junkies visitors.

2. Theatre Junkies Reviews. If you would like an independent review of a production published online at the start of the season, Theatre Junkies has a small team of writers to call on to review your shows. You provide two tickets to your preview or opening night, and we will have a review posted on our website to help with the promotion of your show.

For more information, or to book in your ads or review, email theatrejunkiesaustralia@gmail.com.
